Since 01.07.2021, you can apply for the new development loans and grants of the federal funding for efficient buildings – for the renovation to an efficient house, the purchase of a newly renovated efficient house as well as individual energy-related measures.

Renovation of existing real estate to an efficiency house
What is an efficiency house?
We define an efficiency house as an energy standard for residential buildings. The values 40 to 100 define the different efficiency house levels. The lower the value, the lower the energy requirement of the property and the more subsidies you receive.
You can claim the higher funding for the renewable energy class if the heating system based on renewable energies covers at least 55 % of the building's energy requirements.

With a renovation roadmap, you receive an extra 5 % subsidy
Together with an energy efficiency expert, you can draw up an individual renovation roadmap. You then have a maximum of 15 years to renovate step by step and achieve the desired efficiency house level. Then your (repayment) grant increases by 5 %.
Individual energy measures in existing properties
If you renovate a residential building with individual energy measures, we will support you with a loan with a repayment grant.
How high your max. loan amount for individual energy measures is, depends on how high your eligible costs are. You will receive a maximum of EUR 60,000 as a loan per residential unit and calendar year for energy-related measures.
Is your individual measure part of an individual renovation roadmap that you implement within 15 years? Then your repayment subsidy for this measure increases by 5 %.

Construction supervision
Mandatory for promotion: For the expert planning and construction supervision of an efficiency house or individual energy measures in existing buildings, you need the support of an energy efficiency expert.
Good to know: We subsidize construction supervision in the loan variant with an additional loan amount and repayment grant and in the grant variant with an additional investment grant. You can apply for funding for construction support directly together with your loan or grant.
All energy efficiency experts who are listed in the expert list for federal funding programs at the German Energy Agency are eligible. If you want to renew or optimize your heating system, both an energy efficiency expert and a specialist company can issue the required confirmations.

What kind of promotional funds are available?
For installing and commissioning fuel cell systems supplying heat and electricity of residential buildings as well as for the necessary environmental measures you receive a grant up to 40 % of the costs.
The maximum grant amount – depending on the electrical output of the installed fuel cell system – is between EUR 8,450 and EUR 34,300. It is made up of
- a fixed amount of EUR 6,800 and
- a performance-related amount of EUR 550 per 100 W of electrical output.

For whom?
For everyone who is remodelling a home to reduce barriers or purchasing a newly converted home.
For what?
The programme is good not only for senior citizens. It also benefits persons with limited mobility and families with children. Financing examples include:
- Remodelling to reduce barriers, such as walk-in bathtubs and handles
- Lift facilities, stair lifts
- The creation of adequate clear space, for example for wheelchair users

- 12.5 % for standard Age-appropriate House, up to EUR 6,250 per housing unit
- 10.0 % for individual measures reducing barriers, up to EUR 5,000 per housing unit

For age-appropriate conversion up to EUR 50,000 per housing unit can be financed at favourable interest rates.

For whom?
We support you as a private person – regardless of age – if you are
- an owner of a one- or two-family house with a maximum of 2 residential units or an apartment,
- a first-time buyer of a renovated one- or two-family house or a renovated apartment,
- a homeowners' association consisting of private individuals or
- a tenant.
For what?
We promote measures that increase the burglary protection of your residential property. For example:
- Burglar-resistant house, apartment and side entrance doors
- Burglar-resistant garage doors and entrances
- Retrofit systems for house, apartment and side entrance doors
- Retrofit systems for windows and window doors as well as burglar-resistant grilles, folding and roller shutters and light well covers
- Burglar and hold-up alarm systems
Note: Infrasound systems are not subsidized. - Hazard warning systems and security technology in smarthome applications with burglar alarm function

For everyone who wants to buy an existing house or a home to live in themselves
For what?
Purchase price including ancillary costs such as notary public and real estate agent fees, land transfer tax and purchase of cooperative shares to obtain membership of a housing cooperative
What kind of promotional funds are available?
Up to EUR 100,000 can be financed with the KfW loan. Funds from this programme may always be applied for additionally to finance the acquisition of owner-occupied housing.

Promotion available for families with children and single parents.
- with at least one child under the age of 18
- with a household income of EUR 90,000 maximum with one child, plus EUR 15,000 for each further child
- Your new home or condominium is located in Germany. The programme is not restricted to German nationals.

- build or buy your own home and use it yourself
- buy a condominium and use it yourself
What kind of promotional funds are available?
For constructing or buying your own home you receive a grant of EUR 12,000 per child (EUR 1,200 for 10 years).

What is supported?
We promote charging stations at parking spaces and in garages that belong to residential buildings and are only accessible to private persons. The subsidized costs include:
- The purchase price of a new charging station (e.g. wallbox) with 11 kW charging power and intelligent control
- The costs for installation and connection of the charging station, including all installation work
What kind of promotional funds are available?
For the purchase and installation of your charging station, you will receive a grant of EUR 900 per charging point.
