The activities described in the sustainability report show how KfW, as the promotional bank of the Federal Government and the federal states, is driving forward forward-looking projects and promoting sustainable development in many areas: For example, in the promotion of start-ups, student finance, promotional programmes for the conversion of housing to make it suitable for the elderly or in poverty reduction.

Guidelines
KfW Group has established a sustainability management system to ensure that environmental aspects are taken into account in all areas of activity. Separate guidelines have been developed for all environmentally relevant areas and in-house environmental protection.

Exclusion list
The exclusion list of KfW Group is valid groupwide. On the one hand it excludes financing for new projects or purposes in predetermined areas (exclusion list). On the other hand, in selected sectors, KfW Group ties its direct financial commitment for concrete new projects to qualitative conditions (supplementary requirements).
