Learning

Learning and education is of central importance for every individual and for society. KfW therefore promotes projects in Germany and around the world that open up educational opportunities for children and young people. On the occasion of World Children's Day on 20 September, we present some selected projects in our dossier.

Refugee teachers are teaching refugee children as Syrians in Turkey help themselves. Voluntary teachers are improvising schools. On behalf of the German Federal Government, KfW is supporting the UN's Children's Fund UNICEF in providing education in refugee camps.

Most of the 80,000 inhabitants of the Zaatari refugee camp are children. Alongside with 29 schools, there are 13 Makani centres, in which children and teenagers can spend the afternoon. KfW also supports the Makanis.
