KfW is the largest environmental bank in Germany. Already in the 1950s the bank has been financing the first environmental protection measures. At the time this was something completely new. Today KfW’s promotional business helps to improve the energy efficiency of private households, companies and municipalities and thus contributes to climate change mitigation. Its proven funding concepts are also being used abroad.
The KfW subsidiaries DEG and KfW IPEX-Bank are financing German companies that invest in climate protection measures outside Germany. On behalf of the German Federal Government, KfW Development Bank supports countries in Africa, Asia and South America in adjusting to the effects of global warming. Our video produced on the occasion of the UN Climate Change Conference 2017 gives you an overview of KfW’s international climate projects.
