City life and climate change

More and more people around the world are moving to cities. Megacities with populations over one million people are emerging primarily in Asia. Many of their residents live in slums and are particularly hard hit by the impacts of climate change. Cities need sustainable concepts to provide infrastructure and, at the same time, reduce environmental pollution and energy consumption. This special presents several solutions that make megacities more sustainable and pleasant for their residents.
