Pioneer in offshore wind project finance

KfW IPEX-Bank championed the emerging wind energy sector early on and has meanwhile gained a great deal of experience. It is one of the pioneers in offshore wind farm finance. KfW IPEX-Bank is a German and European wind industry partner highly valued for its technological expertise and profound industry knowledge accumulated over the years.

Wind farms are high-tech and typically involve huge investment expenditure. KfW IPEX-Bank constructively collaborates with other banks and market participants precisely when there is a need for provision and structuring of large-volume debt financing. It aims to use tailored syndicated financing to get projects underway for the benefit of the climate, the environment and future generations. KfW IPEX-Bank regularly assumes the lead lender role within the consortium of banks.

Leading exporters voted KfW IPEX-Bank the best bank for their business. This was the result of a market survey by London trade information service provider Trade & Export Finance (TXF) and Munich-based Clevis Research. The detailed survey of the export credit market polled companies with a strong focus on exports. The outcome clearly revealed KfW IPEX-Bank as ranking first among banks, with a total score of 8.3 out of 10.0 possible points.

The TXF/Clevis Exporters’ Market Feedback Survey 2016 focused on an evaluation of banks and export credit agencies active in the export financing market. Survey participants – over 100 international companies, most of which are European exporters –based their assessment on nine different key criteria. They were asked to rate banks on their flexibility, business understanding and risk appetite, as well as on the speed and quality of their service performance, among other things.

“We are extremely pleased about this award since it is based on a genuine market survey. The positive rating of exporters creates a big incentive for us. We do not intend to rest on the laurels of this award but take motivation from it as we proceed into the next financial year. We will continue to do our very best to support our customers' business – with all our structuring experience, which we are pleased to also contribute to large projects in syndicated lending with other banks,” said Klaus R. Michalak, Chairman of the Management Board of KfW IPEX-Bank.
