Second part of KfW's Sustainability Report 2018 focuses on urban development and mobility

For KfW, sustainability is more than just a buzzword - it is enshrined in the group's promotional mandate. It is therefore KfW's aim to provide as much information as possible on its sustainability agenda and concrete activities. Following the publication of the “GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Report” on 29 April 2019, KfW is now presenting the second part of the 2018 Sustainability Report. It is designed as an online magazine that showcases current financing projects and is aimed in particular at our customers and the general public. The focus of the magazine for the reporting year 2018 is urban development and mobility.

Another new component of the report highlights KfW Group's sustainability management, which was restructured and restaffed in 2018. It is now part of the corporate strategy department. Sustainability is a core component of strategic management: in this context, KfW's primary indicator and aspiration is to maintain a TOP 5 ranking in the ratings of the relevant sustainability rating agencies.

In 2018 KfW's Executive Board also adopted the “KfW Roadmap Sustainable Finance” with the aim of making its banking business even more sustainable. The goal of the project is to create a multidimensional management concept for the entire bank that takes into account the Paris Agreement, the Sustainable Development Goals and climate risks.

It is a concern of KfW to intensify direct dialogue with its stakeholders on sustainability issues as well. At a stakeholder round table attended by representatives from the realms of politics, business and civil society, KfW representatives openly discussed the contribution of the financial sector in general and of KfW in particular to sustainable development. KfW takes the participants' recommendations into account in further advancing its sustainability commitment.

In addition, a newly created stakeholder panel, which represents the range of KfW stakeholders in the area of sustainability, is to provide valuable input once a year on various issues and aspects related to sustainability. At the beginning of 2019, the panel members were interviewed in detail for the first time and since then have been supporting KfW in sustainability issues.
