“ECB in the holding pattern. Die ECB’s Governing Council will keep rates unchanged at this week’s meeting. Neither the economic data nor latest data regarding price dynamics demand an immediate response from the ECB and a majority in the Governing Council considers the ECB to be overall “well positioned”. Whether the ECB will cut rates again after the summer break will depend crucially on how the trade conflict with the US will play out. The ECB should have a clearer picture on this at its next meeting in September.”
