KfW achieves record financing volume in Germany

In the year 2009, KfW achieved the highest domestic promotional business volume in its history: EUR 50.9 billion was provided for industry, the environment, housing and education in Germany. The main areas of promotion were small and medium-sized enterprises, climate and environmental protection. Yet the economic crisis left its mark on the bank's international business operations. In spite of this, the overall business volume of KfW Bankengruppe for the year 2009 was EUR 63.9 billion. more

KfW's funding strategy passes 2009 stress test successfully

To fulfil its promotional mandate, KfW Bankengruppe raised nearly EUR 74 billion in the international capital markets in 2009, just as it had announced. The overall environment this year, however, was extraordi-narily challenging for big issuers because the capital markets were char-acterised by high volatility and by very rapid changes in political, eco-nomic and monetary policy conditions. more
