Refugee camp Zaatari

Zaatari is one of the largest refugee camps in the world and is located in Jordan, just a few kilometres from the Syrian border. Since 2012, Syrians have found refuge there from the war in their native country. It is now home to 80,000 people. Most of the inhabitants are children, 80 babies are born there each week. Since the camp was established, KfW finances the power and water supply of the Zaatari camp on behalf of the German Federal Government. It also supports the Makani centres, in which children and teenagers can spend the afternoon. Our dossier presents these projects.
