SMEs: satisfied but nervous about the future

The second half of the year began with positive news for the German economy: In July, small and medium-sized business sentiment brightened again slightly for the first time since January. However, while it illustrates a high degree of satisfaction it also reveals a substantial amount of concern over the future. Germany’s upswing is not under threat, at least not in the short term. We expect second-quarter GDP to have grown by just under half a per cent.
