Should the lingering weakness of global trade be a cause for concern?

Since 2010, global trade has no longer grown at twice the rate of global GDP but only at the same moderate pace. Widespread weakness in investment is seen as the main cause of this trend. At regional level, the euro area crisis and China's new direction play a particular role. Protectionism is not yet a real threat, but a potential danger for the further development of global trade.
