KfW Construction Award 2018 – apply now

• Motto: "Creating and modernising aesthetic and efficient living space"
• A total of up to EUR 35,000 in prize money
• Application phase ends 1 March 2018

The application phase for the KfW Construction Award 2018 is starting now. Until 1 March 2018, private property owners and joint building ventures who have implemented a new construction project or expanded, converted, modernised or revived an existing building in the last five years can apply. The submitted projects will be evaluated and awarded as a whole. The right balance of appealing architecture and appearance, good integration into the architectural surroundings, energy and cost efficiency, future-oriented and sustainable building methods, optimum use of space and land, and individual comfort are deciding factors.

"We want to drive sustainable private construction forward and highlight forward-thinking trends with the KfW Construction Award. Together with appealing architecture, the focus is mainly on energy efficiency, accessibility and living comfort here," says Dr Ingrid Hengster, Member of the Executive Board of KfW Group. She points out that "the award honours outstanding residential projects, because good examples should motivate other property owners to do the same."

The KfW Construction Award totals EUR 35,000. In the "new construction" and "construction on existing buildings" (adding on, converting, modernising) categories, the winners receive a total of EUR 30,000. The first prize in both categories is EUR 7,000. The second-place winners receive EUR 5,000, and the winners of the third-place prize receive EUR 3,000 each. The jury under the chairmanship of the architect, Professor Hans Kollhoff, may also award a special prize of EUR 5,000.

The awards will be presented at a festive award ceremony on 24 May 2018 at Bertelsmann AG's representative office in the capital, Unter den Linden 1, Berlin.
