KfW Credit Market Outlook September 2018
KfW Research has calculated that new lending to businesses and self-employed persons grew at an unexpectedly high year-on-year rate of 8.3 % in the second quarter. The trend is likely to remain very dynamic in the second half-year as well.
Given the gradual cyclical slowdown, businesses’ financing requirements for investments alone do not explain the accelerated pace. Rather, high downward risks have probably prompted enterprises to secure interim financings and financial reserves with very attractive terms.
