The global market for green bonds has grown rapidly since 2013 and seen a considerable rise in the number and diversity of actors. The market in Germany is basically dominated by state promotional banks. Green bonds continue to make up only a small segment of the overall bond market. Further improving their quality and transparency through standardisation will be key to developing the market.
