Emerging markets have become more important for Germany's foreign trade
The importance of emerging economies for Germany's foreign trade has grown dramatically since the mid-1990s. For one thing, these upper-middle income countries have become more numerous, and for another, trade on a per-country basis has intensified. This effect is due in part, but not exclusively, to China's integration into world trade. The group of high-income countries, however, remains by far the most important market for Germany's foreign trade.
