    Nachhaltigkeit verbindet - Sustainability Connects

KfW initiates a Sustainability Advisory Board entitled "Nachhaltigkeit verbindet” (“Sustainability Connects") composed of external experts.

The Sustainability Advisory Board “Sustainability Connects” brings together a consistent group of external experts from fields such as academia/science, civil society, and business. Through their voluntary commitment, the advisory board members contribute significantly to a constructive strategic dialogue on sustainability and sustainable finance with their diverse perspectives and in-depth expertise.

The Advisory Board operates independently and provides ongoing strategic expert advice at the corporate level without receiving instructions on content or technical matters. In doing so, the members always represent their personal positions and shape the debates as valuable catalysts.

Key Objectives of the Advisory Board

    • The Advisory Board develops proposals to improve sustainability-related offerings as well as the strategic direction in the areas of sustainability and sustainable finance.
    • By bringing together perspectives from academia, civil society, and the business sector, the Advisory Board fosters mutual exchange and the generation of new insights and provides important impetus for sustainable development and transformation.
    • As an independent body, the Advisory Board also sees itself as a critical corrective force that accompanies and constructively questions the progress.

The regular, non-public meetings form the core of the collaboration and build on existing formats for exchange. The Advisory Board is closely integrated into the KfW Group’s sustainability governance and maintains an ongoing dialogue with internal committees.

KfW’s current CEO serves as the Advisory Board’s patron, while KfW’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) chairs the meetings.
