The men and women on our staff in 2019

The men and women on our staff in 2019

High demands continued to be placed on KfW, its managers and employees in financial year 2019. As well as handling a considerable volume of business, KfW continued to focus on implementing important modernisation projects. The excellent performance by all involved was based on the high level of mutual respect between KfW’s managers and non-managerial staff. This also includes the great importance that KfW attaches to achieving a healthy balance between performance focus and social responsibility, and to offering equal opportunities across the group.

    • Employer attractiveness and number of employees reach a record high
    • New Equal Opportunities Plan approved and diversity charter signed
    • New Work – development of corporate culture in terms of agility and risk culture

Overview of issues in reporting year 2019

Focal points of HR work: Equal opportunities, inclusion and diversity

Incorporating equal opportunities – a key component of HR policy

A commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for men and women has been a key component of KfW's personnel policy for some time now, and is at a high level – also in comparison with other companies. KfW developed its fifth Equal Opportunities Plan (2020 to 2023) together with the Equal Opportunities Officer in 2019, and underpinned it with specific objectives and measures. The plan is based on the targets of the German Federal Equal Opportunities Act (Bundesgleichstellungsgesetz – BGleiG). Existing objectives are continuously updated and new, innovative priorities set.

You can find out more about our equal opportunities activities in the brochure on the new Equal Opportunities Plan, which is available here for download (content available in German only).

Breaking down barriers – inclusion is more than just a statistic

This was the motto used within KfW for a series of interviews on working with a disability. The “Inclusion Day” was held in Bonn in 2019, following Frankfurt the previous year, and featured many interactive experiences (such as negotiating an obstacle course in a wheelchair).

Working together openly and without prejudice – the diversity charter

The diversity charter is an employer initiative to promote diversity within a company. It has been in place since 2006, with 3,000 companies in Germany, comprising a total of 13 million workers, having signed since then. KfW signed the charter in 2019 and in so doing committed itself to an open and unprejudiced working environment.
