Promotional programmes and consulting tailored to company needs

The Business Support Services (BSS) advisory programme offers DEG customers advisory solutions tailored to their individual needs, aimed, for example, at improving the company's financial viability and performance, reducing risk and increasing the positive effects of development. The BSS advisory services are an integral part of DEG’s product range. A total of 85 measures were implemented in 2016.

Promotional programme under a mandate from the BMZ

The programme for public-private partnerships set up by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) supports a variety of promotional programmes. The upscaling programme financed from funds of DEG and BMZ promoted, for example, pioneer investments by SMEs in developing countries and emerging economies that want to expand an innovative business model. The upscaling programme provides up to 50% of the total investment volume (EUR 500,000 maximum) under the condition that the customers contribute at least 25% of the financing. If funding is obtained, the upscaling contribution must be repaid. Six financings were committed and EUR 3.4 million was disbursed in 2016.

Further promotional programmes include the Coffee Partnership for Tanzania (CPT) and Competitive African Cotton Initiative Phase II (COMPACI II).
