The Executive Board of KfW is set to appoint Dr Susanne Maurenbrecher as KfW’s General Manager with effect from 1 October 2025. The Board of Supervisory Directors welcomed the decision at yesterday’s meeting.

In her role as General Manager, Dr Susanne Maurenbrecher is being prepared to assume responsibility for the IT & Operations departments. KfW’s Board of Supervisory Directors will decide on a potential appointment to the Executive Board at a later date.

Dr Susanne Maurenbrecher joined KfW on 1 November 2023 and has been Head of the Group Development department since that time. In this function she is responsible, among other things, for prioritising the IT change portfolio for the group and embedding the strategic further development of IT in KfW’s overall strategy.

Dr Maurenbrecher joined McKinsey in 2009 and became a partner in 2022; during this time, she advised banks on strategy and transformation projects. Previously, she held various roles in the NORD/LB Group.

Melanie Kehr, who has been responsible for KfW’s domestic business on the Executive Board since 1 May, will be responsible for the IT & Operations departments on the Executive Board until further notice.

Stefan Wintels, Chief Executive Officer of KfW Group, explained:

“In the coming years, KfW will play a role in strengthening Germany’s economic status within the European Union. Ensuring KfW’s top performance is of key importance here. With this in mind, we are very pleased that Susanne Maurenbrecher will make an important contribution to the alignment and further development of KfW as a digital transformation and promotional bank, not least in the fields of IT and Operations.”
