KfW: Stefan Wintels appointed to the KfW Capital Supervisory Board

  • Dr Ingrid Hengster steps down as Chair of the KfW Capital Supervisory Board and resigns from the committee
  • Stefan Wintels, KfW’s Chief Executive Officer is appointed a new member of the KfW Capital Supervisory Board
  • Supervisory Board to elect new Chair in November

Dr Ingrid Hengster, Member of the KfW Executive Board, is leaving the Supervisory Board of KfW Capital, KfW’s wholly-owned investment subsidiary. She is thus resigning from her position as Chair of the Supervisory Board, which she had held since November 2018.

Dr Hengster is stepping down to enable a smooth transition in view of her departure from KfW at her own request. Stefan Wintels, KfW’s Chief Executive Officer, has been appointed by KfW as a new member of the KfW Capital Supervisory Board.

KfW Capital’s Supervisory Board is established on a voluntary basis and consists of six members: two representatives from the German Federal Government – one from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and one from the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) – two representatives from the market and two representatives from KfW. The duties of the Supervisory Board include monitoring the company’s business activities, approving larger investments and providing advice for strategic issues. The Senior Managing Directors of KfW Capital, Dr Jörg Goschin and Alexander Thees, would like to thank Dr Ingrid Hengster for their close cooperation and her valuable support as Chair of the Supervisory Board since KfW Capital was founded and warmly welcome Stefan Wintels as a new member of the Supervisory Board.

The members of the KfW Capital Supervisory Board are as follows:

  • Dr Fritz Becker, entrepreneur/investor and member of Augsburger Aktienbank AG Supervisory Board and the DEKA Investment GmbH Supervisory Board. In the past, Dr Becker was CEO of HQ Trust GmbH and Harald Quandt Holding GmbH.
  • Dr Sabine Hepperle, Director-General responsible for SME Policy at BMWi (her responsibilities include venture capital financing and issues related to start-ups and innovative tech companies).
  • Dr Judith Kölzer-Söding, founder and CEO of the holding company SOVAGE GmbH, which focuses on special situations and growth. In the past, Dr Kölzer-Söding held various posts at Dr. Förster AG, CVC Capital and Goldman Sachs International.
  • Dr Stefan Peiß, member of the KfW Group Executive Board, Chief Risk Officer and Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board of KfW Capital
  • Stefan Wintels, Chief Executive Officer of KfW Group
  • Reinhard Wolpers, Head of the subdivision Financial Market Stability and Debt Management at the Federal Ministry of Finance (his responsibilities include financial market stability, government bond markets, and bank supervision and restructuring).

At the next meeting (still in 11/2021), the KfW Capital Supervisory Board will elect one of the KfW representatives as Chair.
