Final stretch: KfW Construction Award 2021 – apply now

  • Applications must be received by 15 June 2021
  • A total of up to EUR 35,000 in prize money
  • “New construction” and “modernising existing buildings” categories

The application phase for the KfW Construction Award 2021 is entering its final weeks: private property owners and joint building ventures who have implemented a new construction project or expanded, converted, modernised or revived an existing building in the last five years have until 15 June 2021 to apply. Whether detached houses or buildings divided into flats: the submitted projects will be evaluated and awarded in their entirety. The right balance of appealing architecture and appearance, good integration into the architectural surroundings, cost and energy efficiency, future-oriented and sustainable building concepts, optimum use of space and land, and individual living comfort are deciding factors.

“One of KfW’s most important promotional priorities is to create housing. The KfW Construction Award honours exemplary projects that combine appealing architecture with cost and energy efficiency, accessibility and living comfort, and motivate other property developers to do the same,” says Dr Ingrid Hengster, Member of the Executive Board of KfW Group. She emphasises that “the aim is to provide impetus for sustainable private construction and identify trends for the future.”

The KfW Construction Award has a total prize fund of EUR 35,000. In the “new construction” and “modernising existing buildings” categories, the winners receive a total of EUR 30,000. The first prize in both categories is EUR 7,000. The second-place winners receive EUR 5,000 each, and the winners of the third-place prize receive EUR 3,000 each. The jury, under the chairmanship of the architect Professor Hans Kollhoff, may also award a special prize of EUR 5,000.
