KfW awarded as 'Best Responsible Investor'

• 2011 portfolio award for KfW's innovative and unique investment approach

The internationally renowned journal 'portfolio institutionell' has given KfW Bankengruppe the 2011 portfolio award as 'Best Responsible Investor'. In its justification the jury particularly highlighted the promotional bank's own special sustainable investment approach: "KfW has developed a specific way to achieve sustainability in Asset Management, which it continually expands upon and in this way also operates as a trendsetter for comparable credit institutions (...). What is also innovative for the liquidity portfolio, which consists entirely of bonds, is the use of a sustainability rating in the selection of potential issuers". In addition, the jury emphasized that the investment approach is closely harmonised with the self-image of KfW, which is mainly characterised by the strong ecological orientation of the bank. Overall, KfW is judged as a very convincing responsible investor that serves as a compelling model for others.

"We are very pleased with this external award that honours our strong commitment to sustainable management as a securities investor. To implement the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), which we signed in 2006, we have developed an investment strategy that motivates issuers to orient their business sustainably and which obviously succeeds in doing so. The award strengthens our resolve to continually develop our approach and convinces other capital market actors of the benefit of sustainable management approaches", explained Dr Günther Bräunig, the member of the Executive Board of KfW Bankengruppe in charge of capital markets.
