KfW Entrepreneurs’ Award: Bio24 Social from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania wins the people's choice award

The startup Bio24 Social collected the most votes from the public and receives the people's choice award as part of the KfW Entrepreneurs' Award. The award comes with EUR 5,000 in prize money. The company from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was previously named state winner at the awards ceremony on 7 November. The concept of the social start-up: cooking and baking to combat loneliness.

Bio24 Social is committed to fostering a stronger sense of togetherness in rural areas. Through various services and activities, they help to revive communities and strengthen cohesion. The start-up’s team consists of 25 people – mainly senior citizens. Together, they produce regional products based on traditional recipes, including soups and jams. They sell the products in village stores, online and through food retailers. In addition, Bio24 Social regularly puts on cooking classes, games evenings and a weekly bar.

On 7 November, the KfW Entrepreneurs’ Award honoured innovative companies from all over Germany. One company from each federal state was given an award, receiving prize money of EUR 1,000 each. All state winners also qualified for the people’s choice award. The public could vote for their favourite entrant up to 29 November.
