Reforms in France: focused and fast
France’s new government under President Macron has introduced a number of reforms in its first year in office. It has reformed the labour market at record pace, going farther than the previous government. Yet it has met with relatively little resistance so far and the reforms have faced a high level of acceptance among the population. This is important as the government’s efforts are designed to demonstrate credibility and reliability to their international partners through far-reaching and, in part, painful reforms in order to drive change at the European level as well.
