KfW mourns the passing of Dr Ulrich Schröder
Dr Ulrich Schröder, former Chief Executive Officer of KfW, passed away in the morning hours of 25 March. He was 66 years old. KfW Chief Executive Officer, Dr Günther Bräunig, issued the following statement: ‘The Executive Board and I personally are deeply saddened by his passing. We send our thoughts and deepest condolences to his family at this difficult time.’
Dr Schröder served KfW as Chief Executive Officer from 2008 to 2017 with success and determination. Among other achievements, he launched the broad initiatives of regulatory alignment, digitalisation of domestic lending business and the comprehensive renewal of the IT system architecture. Due to complications from cancer, he had to resign from the Board before the end of his term in late 2017.
