Ageing in developing East Asia requires broad policy responses
The East Asian developing and emerging countries have experienced enormous population growth in the past decades, which partly explains their economic boom (known as "demographic dividend"). But now the number of aged people is also growing massively, creating enormous challenges for the region. Areas requiring intervention include labour market policy and the development of pension insurance schemes, as well as health and aged care systems.
