Weak productivity growth in Germany – is it a problem?
In the wake of the financial and economic crisis, productivity growth levelled off significantly globally. The decline in Germany was sharper than in just under two-thirds of all OECD countries. Since 2008, annual labour productivity growth in Germany has only been 0.5 % after remaining fairly stable at 2.0 % for just over a quarter of a century, from 1980 to 2007.
