Which factors influence redistribution? Perception and evaluation of inequality
Perception and reality often vary and this is also the case with regards to income inequality. In some countries inequality is overestimated, in others underestimated. Culture, social mobility and perceived fairness in society all play a role in determining how this inequality is rated. This affects the extent of the redistribution, which is more closely linked to perceived than determined inequality.
