Chile – too much of a market economy?
With its stable institutions, responsible macro-economic policy and effective legal system, Chile offers favourable conditions for doing business. If the country succeeds in reducing the segmentation of its labour market and education system – helping, along the way, to dismantle inequality and to improve productivity over the longer term – it should be able to build on its position as the pre-eminent Latin American economy.
