Economic outlook has deteriorated across the board
Germany prepares the business climate concerns, the euro zone is hardly any sign of life
Things are no longer running smoothly in the German economy. If companies are correct in their self-assessments, the strong reductions in incoming orders and industrial production in August will not be the last bad news to emerge from the hard economic data. For September, small and medium-sized companies reported a continued downward trend in the business climate. Sentiment has thus worsened for the sixth month in a row. It is not only the present, but the future too that is looking increasingly bleak.
In the first edition of the new KfW Economic Compass Eurozone, we are forecasting growth of 0.7 % for the eurozone in 2014. Stagnation in the second quarter will be followed by tough second half of the. The lack of investment remains the weakest point. The KfW Economic Compass Eurozone will be published quarterly in the future, roughly one week after its 'big brother', the KfW Economic Compass Germany.
