Car Pool

Driving with consideration

KfW's car pool contains around 200 vehicles for its staff at three different sites. These are available for business travel or transport.

By constantly replacing vehicles, Central Procurement Management ensures that the KfW fleet is always state of the art. This is the only way to reconcile the standards of cost efficiency with those of sustainability by which KfW, as the “environmental bank” of the federal government and the regions, feels particularly bound. This approach has seen a drop of more than 17% in emissions of carbon dioxide in the last five years - and the figure is set to continue dropping.

Exceeding current standards

It is a declared aim of the Central Procurement Department to comply with all legal requirements and to fall below the specified emissions limits. To help it meet this ambitious goal, KfW has been using natural gas vehicles for years and is particularly open to the development of alternative driving concepts. The bank’s car pool, for instance, already includes electric vehicles that are intended to support the current trend and highlight the many different possibilities of use.

The strong promotional approach even here is demonstrated by KfW's intention to establish a publicly accessible electricity charging station in Frankfurt within the next months.
