Application process for the KfW Construction Award 2018 is drawing to a close

The application phase for the KfW Construction Award 2018 ends on 1 March 2018. Until this date, private property owners and joint building ventures who have implemented a new construction project or expanded, converted, modernised or revitalised an existing building in the past five years can apply. The submitted projects will be evaluated and awarded as a whole. The right balance of appealing architecture and appearance, good integration into the architectural surroundings, energy and cost efficiency, future-oriented and sustainable building methods, optimum use of space and land and individual comfort are deciding factors.
"The KfW Construction Award aims to inspire the developers of today and tomorrow in their efforts to proactively refurbish existing housing and plan new and forward-looking living space," said Dr Ingrid Hengster, Member of the Executive Board of KfW Group. "The KfW Construction Award is intended to honour exemplary housing projects that meet the needs of our time. The focus is on the combination of appealing architecture, energy efficiency, accessibility and living comfort."
The KfW Construction Award totals EUR 35,000. In the "new construction" and "construction on existing buildings" (adding on, converting, modernising) categories, the winners receive a total of EUR 30,000. The first prize in both categories is EUR 7,000. The second-place winners receive EUR 5,000, and the winners of the third-place prize receive EUR 3,000 each. The jury under the chairmanship of the architect, professor Hans Kollhoff, may also award a special prize of EUR 5,000.
The awards will be presented at a formal awards ceremony on 17 May 2018* at Bertelsmann AG's representative office in the capital, Unter den Linden 1, Berlin.
