SMEs’ resistance is weakening as mood turns sour
With a time lag of around half a year, the downbeat mood that has prevailed among large enterprises for some time has now spilled over to the SME sector. In August, SME business confidence was below the long-term average again for the first time in four and a half years. The downward trend that began almost a year ago thus continues at an accelerated pace. A technical recession in Germany now appears inevitable.
