Brief overview
The handout "Entrepreneurship in Brief" provides concise information on business start-ups in Germany. It reports recent years' evolution of start-up intensity as well as stylized structural facts about start-up activity, drawing on data from the KfW Start-up Monitor, a unique population-representative, large-scale survey in Germany.
"SME Profile" provides a concise overview of the situation of small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany (Mittelstand). It reports stylized structural facts on industry and size-classes, as well as unique information on financing, equity and innovation. "SME Profile" draws on the KfW-Mittelstandspanel - which is, the first and so far only representative longitudinal data set covering small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany.
